Mistakes happen, including probation violations.  If you are on probation there may be several different conditions you need to meet on a routine basis.  These conditions could include, submitting to a routing drug test, scheduled meeting with your probation officer or submitting to treatment.  You may even need to notify your probation office if you move or get a new job, or perform community service.  These conditions need to be met and if you fail to do even one of them it is considered a technical violation of your probation.

Technical violation of your probation may not naturally lead to an arrest or return to jail.  Some probation officers may consider the violation mild enough to issue a warning.  Especially if the crime was a misdemeanor and you have no prior record.  If you miss one meeting with your probation officer, or forget to notify them that you have a new job they may give you a break the first time.  However don’t think that this means you can push your luck and commit another violation.  Forgiveness may be divine, but a probation officer will pursue the matter if you are consistently “sick” on the days you are to perform your community service or move often without notifying them.

If you feel that you need to contact an attorney regarding your probation violations, be honest.  Let them know what your violation was and what happened. Also let them know if this is your first violation.  Complete honesty is the only way your lawyer can help you.  However prevention is the best defense against a technical probation violation.  Keep your appointments and keep your probation officer notified whenever your situation changes.  This is the best way to avoid any issues and to put the situation behind you.
